Weekly Board Talk - October 3, 2020 News Bulletin

 

The events of 2020 have resulted in a major paradigm change for all our members.  Once unthinkable for state employment, telework has become the new norm.  This change has affected every aspect of work and home life and has resulted in an explosion in the use of virtual meeting and collaboration technologies – Teams, Slack, WebEx, Go-To-Meeting, etc.  These technologies have moved from ancillary “cool tool” usage to the basis of daily operation and employee management.

 

In order to implement virtual chapter meetings and presentations, the chapter has selected Go-To-Meeting as the platform for our virtual communication.  PMITLH now has its own account for virtual chapter meetings, committee meetings, board meetings, and other chapter events.  This will allow us to manage our own virtual events without having to coordinate through PMI Global.

 

The board has some experience with this platform but will continue to research and learn ways to better use this technology to improve virtual experiences for our members.  Our first foray into this arena will be our roundtable – COVID’s Impact on Project Management and Our Local Area - on October 5 ^th, 2020.  If anyone has any suggestions for increasing interaction and exchange of ideas through Go-To-Meeting or other virtual technologies, please feel free to forward your ideas to the board.

 

We will continue to monitor the local and national situation to plan future events either virtually or in-person.  As this is new territory for all of us, we will also rely on our membership to offer your opinions and wishes.  PMITLH is taking this opportunity to perform a review of our members’ needs without the now obsolete “way we have always done it” view.  With a new year looming large over us, please take a moment to let your chapter board know what matters to you.  We wish to offer the best technologies, speakers, topics, and other events for our membership.  Together, we will plan the future of our chapter within this new paradigm.
